Lina & Tom have been married for a month by now and it was a memorable wedding for us to document… but the purpose of this post isn’t about their wedding day but their engagement session! Lets begin with their proposal story because who doesn’t love reading about a sweet proposal?!
From the moment Tom met Lina, he knew that he would marry her some day. The day he popped the question came just over a year after they started dating and he made sure it was a memorable one for her. During her birthday he organised a ski trip to Queenstown in New Zealand and sussed out the best spots and views for that special moment. After a few days of hitting the slopes, Tom wanted Lina to see the breathtaking views of Lake Wanaka from up high. As they sat down and admired the views, Lina began to cry (Tom had not proposed yet!) because the views were that spectacular. To add to this moment, Tom got down on knee and took out a white box from his jacket…. no guesses needed on what was in it! ;)
A few weeks leading up to their wedding day, Tom had organised for his and Lina’s engagement session involve some of their mutual interests, that is… sailing! When they mentioned the idea to me, I admit I was excited but at the same time worried about the challenges that come with shooting on a yacht e.g. possibly rough waters/strong winds. I’ve never been on a yacht before let alone shoot in one! We all boarded a yacht from Rushcutters Bay and sailed around Sydney Harbour for the afternoon, it was mostly smooth sailing until we tried to get close to Clark Island so I can hop off and shoot from afar. It was just as beautiful watching these two enjoy a moment to themselves during sunset as I snapped away. The experience was as I imagined, challenging but I loved it and thankfully had the perfect couple to work with! The skipper from EastSail himself had experience with taking couples out in the yacht for shoots so he knew the best backdrops to sail out to!
Could not have thought of a better way to spend a Monday afternoon – so thank you for allowing me on board with you both! In case any of you engaged love birds out there are interested in shooting on a yacht or any other adventurous ideas… I am super keen to hear about it! ;)

The skipper told us the mass of clouds up ahead are hail clouds – most likely hailing golf balls in that direction!
